Official Fijian day 1

Day 1-"official": We are sitting at the airport waiting to fly to Savusavu. We are so excited for our little PAC sun plane. Not only did our bags get weighed but we had to jump on the scale too. Diet needs to start before second flight. We were like little kids on the flight. Taking pictures, giggling, and throwing our arms up like it was a roller coaster. Had a scenic tour of mainland Fiji on a flight we thought was simply logistical transportation. We circled 6 times before we landed. We think there might have been a cow on the runway or ground control was in the bathroom. Airport was like a carport. Jimmy picked us up and thank goodness he had a 4 wheel drive car because the hotel lived up to its name. Naveria heights had a dirt driveway the was 1/2 kilometer straight up. Amy said it rivaled the inca trail. We were greeted by Clyde the dog on arrival. We spent the morning with Kasper and Sarita, learning about Fiji and our humble abode for the next couple of days. We sat out in the sun and quickly decided to take advantage of the clouds and much needed shade and set out to explore the town. It was no great shakes, but the people were very friendly saying bula every time we passed. We finally, after much deliberation decided on a lunch spot. Surf and turf. We split a delicious chicken dish with a tasty sweet chili sauce. At the end of our meal, while we were waiting on bobby (the local cab driver with a 4x4 vehicle) we met a lovely British couple. They are cruisers and have spent the last four years sailing the world. They invited us "over" for drinks on their yacht "anytime". We put visiting Chris and Dave on our to-do list right away. We hung with Sharon, Dillon, Brandon, and Kasper and enjoyed a quiet evening and beautiful sunset from what felt like the tropical heavens.
