Day 5: Tui Tai Cruise Day 1
Day 5-1st day of cruise:
Well we woke up this morning to get picked up by Tui-Tai at 9am. We were so excited as this was the live aboard week long dive trip what we splurged on. After all- we earned it! At about 9:15 we were hoping we read the confirmation email correctly and they hadn't left without us. At about 10 they showed up. With our hopes set high, we set off to board our home for the next week. We were overjoyed at first, we were greeted with local music and the boat was gorgeous with some fun cozy places to read, relax, and take in the sights. Unfortunately, much to our dismay, it was more Savusavu for the day. We had to wait on another Aussie family with more kids (we got a little duped on the demographics of our fellow passengers) to fly in by private seaplane. Really?!?
We did meet a great couple, Robyn and Joel from the States, that were on their pre-honeymoon. We connected with them first and they too agree that there are way way way too many kids for a trip like this.
We went on a checkout dive. It was good to get in the water and test the gear we would be using for the next week, but all in all, the dive itself was nothing to write home about.
Dinner was scrumptious with watercress soup, Mongolian chicken stir fry, and banana cake. We all had to hunker down early as we finally set sail in the open waters of the south pacific, and boy was it a bumpy and loud night. All in all, a bummer of a day- here's hoping tomorrow is better.
